Amatullah Armstrong Chishti was born in Sydney. She was awarded a diploma of art education at east Sydney technical college. For several years, she ran her won art restoration business in Sydney. Her early travels took her to Japan, Russia, England, France, Tahiti, Easter island, Chile and brazil. In the late 1970’s she moved to France and lived for three years in small village where she started her quest for truth. In her search for the true direction in life she made a 5000 km bicycle journey from Paris, through France, Corsica and Sardinia to Tunisia in North Africa, where the initial contact with Islam took place. Back in Australia she devoted herself to an intense period of studying the teachings of Islam and the inner teachings of Tasawwuf (Sufism).
